Marriage is difficult, life is difficult. Having a person by your side every day for the rest of your life to grow in faith with and to share the ups and downs and every moment in between is worth the work. Our children witness much more than we sometimes realize and we not only owe it to ourselves, but to them and their future spouses as well.

And the second is like it: Respect the gift of life God has given you and be true to yourself as well. Ask God into your marriage and keep Christ the center of your home.

Thank you for making our marriage and our children a priority, for being a positive, hard-working role model each and every day and for spending time with me and only me.

The father took out an ad in a Madrid newspaper. The ad read simply: The news is good. That good news is present throughout the Old Testament as well as in the New Testament: Oftentimes, I think we have a tendency of assuming that God acts and reacts to things much the way we do. And we know full well how we act. For example, if someone breaks his or her word to us, we oftentimes tend to end that friendship. When someone betrays our confidence, we terminate the relationship.

Who wants to put up with someone who lets us down? So it seems natural for us that when we have failed God in some area of our lives, that we have a tendency of assuming that God will reciprocate. Oftentimes, we may try to avoid God in whatever ways we can. After all, we know we have it coming from God! Some folks seek to accomplish that avoidance by staying away from church.

Some choose to neglect any prayer-relationship with God, somehow convincing themselves that God is angry with them and not about to grant them either his presence or whatever prayer need they might wish to share with God. Yet, regardless of what we may have done, the Bible assures us time and again that there is no act of unfaithfulness on our part — nothing whatsoever — that can ever make God forsake us.

The writer of Psalm 40, mindful of his own sin, prayed to God: The writer of Psalmexclaimed: And the writer of Psalm 25 proclaimed: If, in our darkest moments, we believe that somehow there is an ultimate good purpose in life, even the unbearable becomes bearable.

The psalmists could believe that.

Remember how the Apostle Paul put it in that marvelous 8 th chapter of his letter to the Romans: No matter how we have broken our word with God, no matter how we have ignored him, insulted him, disobeyed him or denied him, his love for us is not affected in the least.

No matter how many years we have withheld his tithe, he keeps providing for us! When we forsake God and put other gods before him — gods of money, materialism, status and the like, he still loves us as much as ever.
